How to Prepare for CEED and UCEED: A 6-Month Study Plan

July 19, 2026 PreparationStudy Plan

You do not need a coaching institute to crack CEED or UCEED, but you do need a plan. Here is a six-month schedule you can adapt to your own pace.

Month 1 – Foundations

  • Read the official brochure and last three years' question papers end to end.
  • Start a daily sketchbook habit: 20–30 minutes of observational drawing.
  • Revise basic perspective, light and shadow, and proportion.

Month 2 – Part A topic sweep

  • Visualisation and spatial reasoning: paper folding, mirror images, 3D rotation, isometric views.
  • Analytical and logical reasoning: series, syllogisms, data interpretation.
  • Language and comprehension: short passages, vocabulary, grammar.

Month 3 – Design awareness

  • Learn iconic products, designers, and movements (Bauhaus, Ulm, Indian design pioneers, NID history).
  • Follow how everyday objects work – materials, mechanisms, ergonomics.
  • Keep a “design diary” of good and bad designs you meet each day.

Month 4 – Part B drawing intensity

  • One full drawing prompt every day, timed to 20–30 minutes.
  • Practise storytelling in a single frame: expression, action, environment.
  • Get feedback – swap sheets with a friend or post to a design forum.

Month 5 – Mock tests

  • Two full-length Part A mocks per week under exam conditions.
  • Analyse every mistake: was it concept, speed, or a careless slip?
  • Alternate Part B days with theme sets (transport, kitchen, festival, street).

Month 6 – Taper and revise

  • Light revision of formulae, shortcuts, and design history flashcards.
  • Reduce mock frequency; keep the sketching habit alive.
  • Prepare logistics: admit card, ID, stationery, test-centre route.
Consistency beats intensity. Thirty focused minutes every day for six months will take you further than occasional marathon sessions.
