CEED vs UCEED: What Is the Difference?

June 21, 2026 CEEDComparisonUCEED

CEED and UCEED are run by the same team at IIT Bombay and share a similar “Part A + Part B” structure, so they are easy to confuse. The simplest way to separate them: UCEED is for undergraduate admission, CEED is for postgraduate admission.

What stays the same

  • Both have a screen-based objective Part A and a hand-drawn Part B.
  • Both are three hours long.
  • Both need you to clear a Part A cut-off before Part B is even evaluated.
  • Both reward observation, visualisation, and clear sketching more than rote learning.

Which one is for you?

If you are finishing school, prepare for UCEED. If you already have (or are completing) a degree and want to specialise in design, prepare for CEED. A few students appear for UCEED, join a B.Des, and later take CEED for a master's – they are complementary, not competing.
